Mossy Oak and Formula

I was just snooping around online for a Mossy Oak car seat for Scout's truck and found this one. Why (WHY) is it $279.99? Do people really spend that kind of money on car seats?

So why (WHY), you ask, am I looking at baby stuff? We are anticipating a baby at the beginning of February. Yay!

Considering the fact that Scout and I have been married for five years and we've never been able to conceive, we started contemplating adoption. Recently, an opportunity just kind of fell into our laps. We decided to take it (without much thought, really). We're crossing our fingers that nothing will change between now and then. But to keep my mind off of the reality that the birth mother could change her mind, I've been obsessing about things like these and the price of this:

Oh, and YES, people pay out-fucking-rageous amounts for seats. strollers, formula and shoes. Here's a secret for you! Walmart brand formula and Target brand work great at half the cost. Umbrella strollers (the little foldup ones) cost like 15 bucks and are lightweight and TINY compared to some of the Winnebago strollers and GUESS WHAT? They work great. And if it gets spit up on (it will) or pooped on, it's OK. And babies don't WALK, so don't bother with shoes, get socks.

People absolutely spend that much on carseats. I own two of that exact same carseat (different cover), one for each of my kids. I love it! Plus they can use it from birth up to 60 lbs... they'll get their use out of it and its one of the best rated seats out there.

OMG!!! I'm so excited for you guys!!! I can't recommend the book "Baby Bargains" enough....It is a lifesaver for the budget-conscious. That being said, we have that seat for Jack. Some things (baby safety) are worth a splurge, IMO. Keep me updated. Hugs, Emily

And Debey, I bought a baby name book before I even knew Scout! We have a name picked out already...I'll reveal it once things are more concrete.

Holy Smokes! CONGRATS! I did not buy the Britax car seat and regret it now . . . I have spent at least that on other brands because the boy grew big and tall . . . register for it and someone will buy it for you!

Formula . . . go to each of the brands website and register for FREE samples (big cans) and coupons . . . you will save a small fortune! Also sign up your parents, in-laws, etc! I used the Good Start and my doctor said that all brands are equal.

Good Luck!
